Meet your lead photographers

We’re Markie + Jake

I (Markie) started my business while living in NorCal, and continued it through years of being a single mom. Shortly after Jake and I got married, he began joining me on shoots and assisting during wedding days. Eventually, I handed him a camera and the rest is history.
We’ve worked together as a husband and wife team based in the PNW since 2017, and photographed weddings across the US. Being able to travel and work together is a huge blessing. We love getting to know clients as a couple and individuals.

When we’re not working weddings together, I’m a full time work at home mom and homeschool our four kiddos. Jake is a machinist at a local aerospace company (not Boeing) and is currently in school to advance his career. In our “spare” time, you can find us on the farm raising our own meat, in Westport clamming + crabbing or in the workshop completing whatever random project I’ve decided needed done that week.

We’re so excited to meet you in person and can’t wait to celebrate your wedding day!

OUR FAMILY CLIFF NOTES

The quick guide to getting to know our family and the minds behind Markie Jones Photography LLC.

Jake and I have technically been married twice, to EACH OTHER! We secretly eloped in 2017 after our engagement (for insurance purposes) and then had our “official” wedding in 2018. I’d also been married once before that, so I’m pretty sure that (along with our 13+ years of experience makes us wedding planning pros. (Side note: Out of three total weddings, one was super traditional (my first wedding), one was super offbeat (our elopement) and the third combined some traditional elements into our offbeat costume party wedding.

We are a family of SIX! Our eldest, Emillia will be 14 in 2024. Our middle kiddos, Gracie + Evan, will be 10 and 5. Then the baby of the family, Zeke, will be 3! We didn’t originally set out to have a big family, but God blessed us in ways we couldn’t have imagined with all these kiddos.

I (Markie) have always loved the wedding industry but didn’t start as a photographer. I completed a certification course in bridal consulting in 2005, and my Associates of Arts (Film Photography Focus) in 2006. My very first business license was for Shoestring Weddings however, I quickly learned I love dreaming up plans for weddings but the execution of all those wedding plans are best left to an A type personality. Instead, I fell in love with documenting the day and switched my focus in 2011 to wedding photography.

We’re slightly obsessed with Joanna Gaines, and Markie always laughs during most Fixer Upper episodes because Jake and Chip are two peas in a pod. While Markie enjoyed visiting the Silos at the Magnolia property in fall 2021, Jake still hasn’t gotten to Waco (yet). It’s on our couple’s travel bucket list for 2024/2025 and we’d be extremely honored if we’re there for a wedding. 😉

Our family spends a lot of time on DIY projects, both for our home and have even built props for friends’ studios. Markie is making a hobby of woodworking and has started renovating our small 1300 sq foot home to make it feel less like a manufactured house and more like a cozy farm home.

Emi

Our eldest and assistant/photographer in training. Emi photographs alongside Markie when Jake is unavailable. Most weekday weddings will see her instead of him.

Gracie

Our second daughter and probably the reason we’re still here. Haha! She’s a fireball who loves to come along on family session and practice her photography skills.

Evan

Floor manager 1: our first boy. He loves playing with our old digital cameras and one day hopes to come photograph weddings too. He’s always asking: “When’s the next wedding, mama?”

Zeke

The one who’s actually in charge and our very own pandemic baby. He tagged along for our entire 2021 wedding season, including traveling across the country for a Minnesota wedding!

The Wedding Experience

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Weddings make most of us giddy with excitement; it’s such a big decision to marry the one you love! Whether it’s your first or third wedding, there’s still something special about creating a day that blends your unique personalities to showcase your couple personality. Our goal is to get to know our couples on a personal level and for every couple to enter their wedding day being comfortable and relaxed in front of our cameras.

STEP ONE:

Tell us about your wedding

We start with an appointment to go over your vision for both your engagement session and your wedding day, discuss how you dream of showcasing your memories and make a plan to execute the best way of memorializing this exciting time in your life!

STEP TWO:

Engagement Session + All the Planning

Once you’ve chosen us as your wedding photographers, we start the planning process for your engagement where you’ll get snuggle time with your love and end up with gorgeous images to use in Save the Dates and at your wedding.

We also spend time making sure we have the best plan of action for your wedding day, including knowing your VIP list, day of timeline and other vendors!

STEP THREE:

Time to Party

On your wedding day and honeymoon, you get to relax knowing your memories are in good hands! No phones in front of you, just a lot of beautiful memories to look back on! We’ll do the heavy lifting and showcase your day in the most beautiful way possible from start to finish.
