Celebrating Ten Years in Business

The term “time flies when you’re having fun” has always been something I’ve kinda chuckled at, then been totally shocked when it turned out to be true. Once again, I’m over here shaking my head because wow… I’m celebrating ten years in business TODAY!

Celebrating Ten Years

It truly feels like I started my business just yesterday, with a tiny little 3 month old in tow to all my sessions with new portrait clients. But alas, those years are LONG gone and behind me. While I’ve still been doing sessions with a tot in tow, I can easily say I’ve made a ton of improvements in the past ten years. There’s no more dutch tilt, funky filters or terrible actions on my photos now, and everything is crisp, brightly colored and very true to life.

So what’s new?

In the past two years I’ve made some pretty big changes already, which may leave you asking “How much more can you change?” I assure you, I can probably change a LOT of things. I promise I won’t though, because I don’t want any of you to be overwhelmed. A few things are changing though, for the better.

A new bridal guide is coming. Yes, I’ve been talking about this for MONTHS but even with the Great COVID Lockdown of 2020, I haven’t quite finished it. In true to me fashion, I picked a project that would take me a solid year to complete… even after buying a template. On the bright side, I haven’t finished it because I was helping some AWESOME clients pivot their weddings… giving me a whole new portion of the business…

Planning assistance! Let me start by saying: My number ONE love will always be the photographs. A close second though is the planning assistance I’m super excited to offer to all elopement and micro wedding clients! I’m more than happy to assist with everything from selecting invitations to finding the perfect vendors. I have a pre-planned Micro Wedding Collection that includes planning assistance and will also be available for a minimal hourly charge.

Simplified pricing: I have to say, in the past ten years, I’ve tried every pricing format out there. Trying to keep track of who purchased which package and what was included, was as complicated as the sentence you just struggled through. For REALS friends, I can’t keep doing this so we’re simplifying. One package for big weddings (50+ guests), one package for micro weddings (11-49 guests) and one package for elopements (under 10 guests). Of course, there will also be one package for portraits and one for boudoir for those of you who wish to hang out with me, but don’t have a wedding to plan.

Did you learn anything?

Oh holy moley… Now that I’m celebrating ten years I’ve realized that I’ve learned so much that I couldn’t put it all in one blog post. But to summerize: I’ve learned to be myself and stop trying to fit into a “professional” box that I thought was necessary for success. I’ve learned to share both my successes and failures throughout the journey. I’ve learned to believe in myself, continue improving my skills and never let anyone get me down.

Most of all, I’ve learned to believe in you, my clients, and your unwavering ability to make a gal cry happy tears with your loyalty when the rest of the world is falling apart.
