Whiskey Gulch Port Orchard | Jessica + Carl

I was blessed to take part in over a dozen love stories last year, but this Whiskey Gulch Coffee Pub wedding came to me out of the blue. Sent by an old friend of mine, Jessica and Carl were wonderful to work with and I’m so glad to have added them to the Markie Jones Photography Family!

Planning their wedding timeline was an awesome zoom convo with Jessica and her bestie, Heather. The conversation took over an hour because Heather is one of those dream friends who loves weddings as much as I do; bonus she’s incredibly organized, loves planning details and doesn’t overlook anything. We nailed down the details and then chatted about all the fabulous wedding ideas we could think of.

Finally the day came for Jessica and Carl’s wedding! While we’d hoped for a beautiful sunset, I wasn’t thrilled when the skies across the bridge gave way to a regular Washington grey sky. I kept my fingers crossed that the muck would burn off before too long.

Calibre Salon

I met up with Jessica at Calibre Salon and lost my train of thought at how beautiful she was in person (It probably wasn’t helpful I’d found out a week or so before that I was expecting baby 4. Pregnancy brain is REAL yo!). Usually I get to meet couples prior to their wedding days, but when Jessica hired me a whopping three weeks before the big day, we didn’t have time for the usual client experience. That didn’t stop Jessica from giving me her all and completely trusting me when it came to her photos.

Getting ready

From the Salon, we headed to her friend Heather’s where she and Carl would get ready without seeing each other! It always amazes me when couples manage to pull this off, but Heather’s home was PERFECT for the morning. Heather’s bedroom was made into the bridal suite, while the man cave in the basement served as a groom’s quarters. The hardest part was sneaking Jessica out without Carl seeing her! Heather’s skillful timeline planning worked like magic, and we headed off to Whiskey Gulch for their ceremony!

Whiskey Gulch Coffee Pub, Port Orchard

Every couple has their perfect wedding venue, and Whiskey Gulch Coffee Pub proved to be just that for Jessica and Carl’s wedding! Their beautiful private event space offered stunning views of Sinclair Inlet as well as the Bremerton Skyline. Boats peacefully drifted across the inlet with a few ferries passing by every now and then. Whiskey Gulch’s private event space provided a warm spot for their sweet (and short!) ceremony, before we headed out in the cold for their couple’s portraits. Sadly the weather never gave up, but even though it was overcast, their portraits were beautiful!

Thankfully for Jessica and Carl, the reception restriction was lifted right before their wedding, so they were able to continue as planned without major pivoting. They jetted off on a mini-moon the following weekend before making a big move to Virginia for Carl’s job. Getting to celebrate with them was a wonderful experience and I wish them many happy memories together.
