2022 Wedding Recap + Our 2023 Wedding Goals

Isn’t it amazing how quickly a year can pass? I feel like yesterday we were posting reviews of 2021 while scrambling to prepare for the 2022 Seattle Wedding Show and our Disney World Trip. But alas, an entire year has come and gone, thankfully taking it’s ups and downs with it.

2022 Weddings

2022 was a light year for us in terms of weddings. I chose to take a lot of time off with the struggles I personally faced from my last pregnancy (talk about a hormone trip). It took a long time for me to “feel” like myself again, and I don’t think I actually got back to that until right around the holidays. Lucky for me, this is a family affair and the team was extremely supportive in times of need.

We started with a beautiful spring wedding at Lord Hills Manor in Snohomish. Surrounded by beautiful cherry blossom trees, incredible dancers and a ton of love, Brianna + Brennan tied the knot.

Emi and I took a trip to Grays Harbor for Katelyn + Jeff’s courthouse wedding with their family (and some of my favorite people!) and their reception at the Rotary Log Pavillion. It was so much fun to spend the day with their family, even through the rain which didn’t really want to cooperate. It was a bonus being able to spend the day with Emi and have her learn along side me.

In July, we jumped into action with Emily + Daniel at Ol’ Hitching Post Ranch, where the hot weather didn’t keep us down. There were lightsaber fights, lots of dancing and delicious eats to celebrate their marriage. The Ol’ Hitching Post Ranch has quickly become a favorite spot of mine.

I personally missed Rachael + Mario’s wedding (thanks Norovirus), but Jake and the amazing Cody from Robby’s Lady Photography, stepped up to save the day! Their wedding was incredible and I’m so sad I missed it. To say I was bummed is an understatement as they got the unique opportunity to do couple’s portraits with the Buckley Fire Department Trucks!

We were originally double booked for August 20th (and turned away no less than 13 other inquiries!) and I don’t doubt it was the most popular day of 2022. Jake and the talented Sophia (Sophia Haillie Photography) joined forces for Amanda + Mitchell’s Five Sisters Farm Wedding. They really made the day feel laid back and meaningful. The farm was gorgeous (another one I was sad to miss!).

Meanwhile, I headed out of town for M+J’s Wedding which unfortunately ended up postponed! I thought about packing up and heading home, but I knew I needed to trust my team and take the weekend off. This was probably the hardest thing for me, as it’s really weird to not be shooting our weddings.

Labor Day Weekend we jetted down for M+J’s intimate wedding at Avidity Wines. Overlooking the Oregon Valley, this hillside winery was the perfect spot for them to tie the knot before their important members had to leave town. They’ll be celebrating in 2023 with a full reception for everyone who couldn’t attend.

The second weekend of September, we celebrated with Heidi + Brad at Echo Falls Country Club. I hadn’t been there in years so it was refreshing to see the updated space. Heidi + Brad were cool as clams through the entire day, even when we got an accidental evacuation notice!

Our last wedding of the year came in October and was the most laid back event I’ve attended. Jessica + Jonathan tied the knot with 20 of their closest friends and family at The Five2Five in Buckley. They spent the evening playing games (some that the bride made herself!) and snacking on an incredible taco bar from 3 Baker’s Dozen Catering.

2023 Wedding Goals

On a personal note: 2023 came in with a bang (or a double break) and we spent the 2nd day of January in Mary Bridge Children’s ER with our two boys. Evan broke his tibia and Zeke broke his femur, both on the right leg. To say the last two weeks have been a whirlwind is a complete understatement!

We’ve entered 2023 with a handful of weddings on our books including Trinity Tree Farm, Copper Gables Barn and some backyard weddings! I’m anticipating this to be another pretty light year, we’ve blocked out a few months for traveling with our kids. We’ll be at the 2023 Seattle Wedding Show (use code: SWSMJP for $4 off your tickets!) and cannot wait to chat with all the newly engaged couples!

We have room in our schedule for about 10 more weddings this year, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed we’ll be scheduling a few of those on the road! Idaho, Montana and South Dakota are on my list of places to visit this year and I’m going to be taking tons of photos on our adventures. If you’re in any of those states, and getting married in June, drop me a message and lets see if we can work a deal!

2023 is going to be amazing, and we can’t wait to see everyone this year!
