Orting Manor | Historic Victorian Manor Venue

We’re coming to the blog today with a pretty incredible Historic Victorian Manor Venue! The Orting Manor was one of those pretty little gems that sat on my venue wish list for YEARS before I was gifted the opportunity to photograph a wedding there.

Recently, the Orting Manor was purchased by new owners who put a lot of TLC and some serious elbow grease into giving this old house new life. The interior of the house is completely stunning, with plenty of space for your entire wedding party AND an optional honeymoon suite so you don’t have to travel ANYWHERE the night of your wedding. (I’m pretty sure that was the worst part about my own wedding… the drive from the party to the honeymoon hotel. *wink wink*).

Without further ado, I’m thrilled to introduce you to the Orting Manor and it’s lovely owner, Briana! Below are her answers to what she loves most about the industry, the manor and weddings themselves!

First up: Please tell me a bit more about you & your venue:

I bought Orting Manor in December of 2019 (bad timing, haha!). I fell in love with the manor the second I walked through the door, and then all over again once I got to the beautiful yard! One of the things that really sets us apart is that we offer affordable full weekend rentals with accommodations for up to 10. This gives couples a lot more time to relax, enjoy their weekend, and an entire day to set up and decorate before their wedding.

What made you dream of opening a wedding venue?

Honestly, planning my own wedding! I found myself pretty frustrated with the process and how stressful it was, and I knew I could make it a much more fun experience for couples by being 100% transparent with pricing and dates, offering way more time than the average venue, and still being affordable.

What do you enjoy most about being a venue owner and weddings in particular?

I love showing off the Manor. I have really worked hard on remodeling it, and I am super proud of the work that I’ve done! The house was built in 1901, and I’ve kept every ounce of character and original charm from the house, while still refreshing the space. I also really love watching wedding ceremonies. They are such a beautiful experience!

Do you have a favorite story from a wedding or working with a bride/couple?

I had a couple who was serenaded by a mariachi band after their ceremony! That was really fun.

What is one question you always ask during an initial consultation?

I always ask about food! I loove food and am always curious what other people have in mind for their big day.

If you could give couples only one piece of advice for their wedding, what would it be?

Take every extra second of time to relax, and hire a coordinator! You will need more time to setup than you would ever think, and even if your mom/sister/best friend plans to play coordinator, you will be sooo happy you hired a professional. Coordinators work VERY hard to make your day as beautiful and stress-free as possible, and are worth every penny.

What is the best course of action for couples to take when trying to choose a wedding venue?

Think about not just your vision, but also the practicalities. Every venue has a different policy regarding rental time, tables and chairs, vendors, alcohol… If decorating is super important to you, you want to make sure you have a lot of rental time available. If you love a specific caterer, make sure your chosen venue has an open policy (or they’re on the list!).
