Tacoma Sunset Elopement | Coco & Mike

It has taken me way too long to blog this gorgeous sunset elopement. FINALLY these gorgeous images are getting their 15 minutes of fame on the blog!

My husband, Jake, is actually the one responsible for booking this wedding. Would you believe that he worked a wedding show the WEEKEND our son was born? Like the man legit stood by my side in the OR on Friday (while our awesome friends at Sirius Woodfired Pizza & Catering set up my booth), then he left the hospital to spend two days pitching wedding photography at the Tacoma Wedding Show while I recovered from a csection. That’s real love ya’ll.

He came home from the wedding show and told me about all the people he’d met and how many he thought would book. He was right that he booked more (wife in the hospital with newborn is a good selling point) than I ever did at a wedding show. Let’s just say he’s a bit competitive. A month later at the Brookstom Creek Open House, he got the last laugh when Coco & Mike walked in and recognized him!

Match Made in Heaven

Of course, this was a match made in heaven. I was honored when Coco & Mike not only chose me as their wedding photographer, but when Covid hit and all the other plans changed, they kept me on board! We set out to plan a beautiful sunset elopement session, along with their ceremony in Coco’s parent’s backyard.

Coco’s dad has a very unique hobby of caring for bonzai trees. I’m a sucker for anything miniature, and bonzai trees are so pretty. When he offered to let me use a few for the detail shots, I couldn’t say no. I was more than a little obsessive as I set up shot after shot.

Sunset Elopement Photos at Chambers Bay

I was thrilled to help them put together their wedding script, and photograph them as they married with my husband as the officiant. We planned a romantic elopement where they were able to spend time together and get some epic sunset portraits at Chambers Bay in Tacoma. It was the perfect companion to their coffee shop engagement session and really a dream come true.
