Real Client: Shadoe (+ Zack) Maternity Session

It’s always a blessing for me when clients return, even if there are years between their sessions. It’s like receiving a warm embrace from an old friend, a testament to the connections we’ve formed and the memories we’ve shared. It’s moments like these that make my heart dance with delight, much like the radiant smile on little E’s face during her mama’s maternity shoot (see below for reference). I’m sure you’ll love their images just as much as I do.

I first met Shadoe + Zack when they were part of the wedding party at Wayne + Miranda’s 2020 Wedding. They also came to our Santa Sessions with their whole family that Christmas, when baby E was just a tiny bundle of joy! So, when Shadoe reached out to me for maternity photos recently, I couldn’t contain my excitement for their growing family. After all, each new addition is a cherished blessing.

A Mountain View Maternity Request

The only thing Shadoe specifically mentioned wanting was the mountain, so we made a plan to use two different locations. The first is one I’ve attempted to use in the past, but the weather never held out: Rainier Scenic View in Tanwax. Despite the shy mountain hiding behind thick clouds, we did our best to snag some beautiful portraits with the scenic view behind them. The sun played a rich game of hide-and-seek, making my job quite the challenge with the need for constant adjustments of my camera settings.

Before I even arrived, it seemed that little E had tired of the photo session, her attention diverted by a friendly neighborhood cat. Nevertheless, she graciously gave me a brief window of opportunity before declaring “all done,” a feat even more impressive than the quickest of clients I’ve encountered. Her only rival is my twinsie’s darling daughter who allowed me a single photo before seating herself on a nearby bench in 2018.

Sometimes I do things just because it’s a client request. 😉

Watching Shadoe + Zack as they interacted with each other, was more than enough to give a gal the warm fuzzies. Zack’s playful antics, aimed at eliciting laughter from Shadoe, mirrored the dynamic between my own husband and me, reminding me of the power of love to bring joy even on the gloomiest of days.

Unforgettable Moments

Despite the mountain’s reluctance to reveal itself and the biting wind chill making it feel like we’d entered an arctic tundra, we swiftly moved on to our next location: Frontier Park in Graham. En route, the weather took a dramatic turn, transporting us from springtime bliss to wintry conditions with the sudden arrival of hail. Though the park didn’t offer the picturesque scenery I’d hoped for, we discovered a hidden pathway among the trees where magic awaited.

Each and every one of my clients brings a contagious energy to their sessions, infusing every moment with laughter and joy. And let me tell you, it’s an absolute delight! In between capturing timeless memories, we indulged in a few playful poses, with Zack’s enthusiastic participation adding a touch of humor to the proceedings. His comedic flair, particularly evident in his dedication to nailing the belly shot, left Shadoe and me in fits of laughter. As I witnessed Shadoe eagerly awaiting the arrival of their newest family member, I couldn’t help but be transported back to the final weeks of my own pregnancies—moments filled with both anticipation and impatience. From my interactions with Shadoe + Zack, it’s clear that their home will be filled with love and laughter once their little one arrives. The journey ahead may be filled with twists and turns, but I eagerly await the opportunity to meet their precious bundle of joy and embark on this new chapter with them.
