Wedding Date Considerations for 2026 – 2030
Let’s talk about one of the biggest questions in wedding planning: “How do I choose my wedding date?” Spoiler alert: this question sparks heated debates in every wedding group online. Vendors, brides, grooms, moms, and even distant cousins have strong opinions. Believe it or not, they will let you know.
We got married on a Wednesday in October, and yes, the date mattered. Sure, some people couldn’t make it, but the ones who wanted to be there, showed up. Holidays, schedules, travel… none of it could stop love from shining. But choosing a wedding date is more than picking a Saturday at random. Here’s a guide to help you think through your options for 2026–2030, with insights on venues, weather, holidays, and more.

Contact Your Preferred Venues First
PNW couples, listen up: venues recommend booking them for your wedding date 12–24 months in advance, and the most popular locations fill up lightning-fast. If there’s a specific date or a numeric combination you’re dreaming about (think 6/6/26 or 8/28/28), check venue availability first. By contacting your preferred venue first, you’ll also avoid setting your heart on a specific date only to find your dream venue is booked. Once you know what’s possible, you can narrow your date options and start considering other factors: seasonal vibes, holidays, guest travel schedules, and special anniversaries.
Holidays, Travel, & Typical Time Off
When picking a wedding date, think about how your wedding might interact with holidays and travel schedules. For example:
- Memorial Day Weekend: Typically, the last Monday in May. This weekend usually kicks off the summer season, and people love to travel over this three-day weekend. This means travel and accommodations are high demand and your guests may see a price increase during this time. Memorial Day falls on 5/25/26, 5/31/27, 5/29/28, 5/28/29, and 5/27/30. We personally don’t book Memorial Day Weekend because two of our kids’ birthdays generally fall on this weekend every year.
- Labor Day Weekend: Similar to Memorial Day, Labor Day marks the end of summer for most families (or college students) who are heading back to school for the next 9 months. Your guests will face the same travel and accommodation increases, and if we’re a preferred vendor for you, we don’t book Labor Day Weekend because the other two kids’ birthdays fall this weekend. Labor day falls on 9/7/2026, 9/6/2027, 9/4/2028, 9/3/2029 and 9/2/2030
- Christmas / New Year’s: Unless you have a lot of family traveling in from out of town, we generally recommend avoiding the Christmas/New Year’s holidays. However, we’ve photographed some beautiful courthouse weddings in December over the years. That said, our own family schedules our downtime from December 10th through January 5th of each year (outside of a few specific volunteer events).
When you have guests who will need to travel or take vacation days to attend your wedding, sometimes it can help to avoid the main travel weekends. But on the other hand, if you’re looking for an extended stay (like Jackie + James’ Campground Wedding), a holiday weekend might be just what you need.
Expanded Monthly Breakdown: Best Wedding Dates 2026–2030
January
January is cozy, quiet, and perfect for intimate weddings. Sometimes early January can feel too close to Christmas and your ideal wedding date might collide with wedding show season. For instance, the 2026 Tacoma Wedding Show is scheduled for January 10th and 11th, while the 2026 Seattle Wedding Show is scheduled for January 31st and February 1st. These shows tend to book on the same weekend every year, so we can expect the 2027 shows to be January 9th & 10th and January 30th & 31st respectively.
- Hot Dates: 1/17/26, 1/26/26 (Monday!), 1/2/27, 1/16/27, 1/22/28, 1/20/28, 1/19/29, 1/5/30, 1/20/30
- Tips: Consider indoor venues with cozy lighting, fireplaces, and warm cocktails. Avoid the first weekend post-holidays when travel may be tricky.
February
February is another cozy month, with that extra bit of romance surrounding the Valentine’s Day Holiday. There’s a lack of travel holidays this month, which makes it ideal for those who’re looking for an intimate vibe without the prime season prices. However, this month falls dead center of wedding show and open house season, with various venues hosting one or the other on all the weekend dates. Picking a Friday or Sunday could help you avoid those open houses and snag you a super memorable date (like 2/6/26!). Keep in mind the Puyallup Wedding Show is typically held on the 3rd Saturday in February, making our estimated dates February 21st & 22nd for 2026, and February 20th & 21st for 2027.
- Hot Dates: 2/6/26 (Friday!), 2/7/26, 2/26/26 (Thursday!),
- Tips: Consider intimate venues, small gatherings, and warm seasonal décor. Don’t forget the indoor heaters or a fireplace for your guests’ comfort!
March
March weather is famously wet in the PNW but that doesn’t have to be a problem. Grab some cute rainboots to go under your dress and a few umbrellas to keep your hair dry. March is perfect for a cozy, indoor venue like Brix on Main, or opt for a snowy elopement. The mountain roads are easier to navigate while still having enough snow to keep everyone happy.
- Hot Dates: 3/21/26, 3/23/27, 3/16/28, 3/15/29, 3/14/30
- Tips: Bring stylish rain boots or waterproof shoes for outdoor photos. Consider a few indoor backup locations just in case.
April
My favorite month of the year, and not just because it’s my birthday month! Spring blooms and pretty rainbows tend to show up in April, when we get the uniquely PNW mix of sunshine and rain on any given day. Consider customizing umbrellas for each of your bridal party members and bedazzling a pair of white hunter boots. Wait until your ceremony is over to splash in those puddles though!
- Hot Dates: 4/18/26, 4/20/27, 4/5/28, 4/13/29, 4/6/30
- Tips: Incorporate seasonal flowers, play with pastel color palettes, and plan for outdoor photos with backup indoor options.
May
May marks the start of our prime wedding season. While there are still tours and open houses during this time, venues are still likely to book those dates if they aren’t pre-set prior to your inquiry. Plus, it’s only really relevant if you have wedding party members who need to attend the open houses.
- Hot Dates: 5/23/26, 5/25/27, 5/18/28, 5/24/29, 5/25/30
- Tips: Consider travel logistics for guests around Memorial Day weekend. Outdoor venues are gorgeous this time of year but book early!
June, July & August
This is peak wedding season for most vendors in the PNW, and for our family August is also the start of Fair Season! Almost every Saturday during these months book for us, except those we mark out ahead of time. June and July tend to be the most sought after months, with August being a less desirable month due to the heat every year. That said, be sure to consider if your venue has AC. During these three months, it’s a must if you want to keep your makeup from melting off.
- Hot Dates: 6/6/26, 7/23/27, 8/24/28, 7/25/29, 8/18/30
- Tips: Consider the heat. Shade, water stations, and outdoor fans are a must. These months are also great for long sunset photo sessions.
September
For our family, September is prime Fair Season, but for most PNW vendors it’s the last big push before “off season”. Many times, September fills up prior to the other prime season months because the weather tends to lean towards sunny but cooler temps. Later in the month, you’ll come across the start of fall colors, and the sunsets are still late enough for that golden hour glow.
- Hot Dates: 9/19/26, 9/21/27, 9/16/28, 9/20/29, 9/21/30
- Tips: Early September may conflict with Labor Day weekend; aim for mid-to-late September for optimal comfort.
October, November & December
Seeing as I’m an October Bride, I might be a little biased about this month. But accounting for the shorter days, cooler weather (bridal gowns are HEAVY and it gets hot under there) and some pretty brilliant colors in the PNW, October through December boast some of the best months to get married. While you may need to book few extra months in advance to avoid holiday parties, the natural and holiday decorations of these months will help you save on your wedding decor.
- Hot Dates: 10/17/26, 11/21/27, 12/19/28, 10/25/29, 11/22/30
- Tips: Consider off-season perks: some venues offer discounted rates, vendors may have additional availability, and it’s easy to find a magical winter aesthetic in the PNW.

Choosing Your Wedding Date
Here’s what to consider when narrowing down the perfect wedding date:
- Venue availability: If your choice wedding date or venue is extremely popular (think Kelley Farm in Bonney Lake, or any Palindrome Saturday where the date reads the same forward and backwards like 6/20/26) consider starting your search early. Popular dates and venues book fast, so consider a few backup options in case your original is unavailable.
- Guest convenience: For family and friends needing accommodations or travel arrangements, consider avoiding major holidays to keep costs down and be sure to choose a date that allows them advanced notice. Be sure to send those save the dates early to the guests you REALLY want at your wedding.
- Season & weather: Every season has its own pros and cons. Use our helpful planning guide to decide which season is right for your wedding. We cover everything from seasons and ceremony times to guest lists and wedding party size!
- Memorable numeric dates: As a wedding photographer who also homeschools four kids, my favorite dates are almost always Palindromes which can be read the same forward and backwards. June 2026 boasts two Saturdays (6/20/26 and 6/27/26) that fall into this category. Other memorable dates are those with repeated numbers, 9/26/26 happens to be a Saturday too!
- Personal significance: Sometimes it’s best to toss all the rules and choose a date that is simply significant to you. Maybe it’s your anniversary, first date, or just a season you love. For us, we broke all the rules and chose a holiday we both loved (Halloween) and leaned into it to host the best wedding/Halloween party our kids, friends and family have ever attended.
- Vendor scheduling: If you know you’re going to want specific vendors, consider checking with those vendors ahead of time or while you’re touring your venue. We will personally hold a date for 7 days if you’re in the process of booking your venue and want to make sure we’re available for it.
But be sure to remember: the best date is the one that feels right to you and your partner, not anyone else’s opinion. These are all just suggestions to help you choose your wedding date; there are no set in stone rules here.
Your wedding date sets the tone for your celebration. You’ll want to choose wisely, plan early and focus on what matters: sharing your love with friends and family. Whether it’s a cozy January elopement or a peak-season summer celebration, we’re here to help capture your day and all its magic. Let’s make your 2026–2030 wedding unforgettable.
