Seattle Day Date: Reconnect with your Future Spouse

Wedding planning can sometimes feel like you’re always pulling the short straw. The closer you get to your wedding, the more your life centers on this single day. It’s necessary to take a break from all the plans and reconnect with your future spouse. This is why I recommend everyone plan a once a month day date! These four Seattle day dates are sure to reignite the spark in your life.

Adventure is out there

I have two rules for these day dates: 1) No wedding talk. 2) Do something more than the standard dinner and a movie. Don’t get me wrong, dinner and a movie is great. However, it’s hard to hold a conversation when you’re sitting in a dark theater. Go out and have a real adventure! I’ve been making lists of my favorites for when you have a bit of extra cash (hello overtime!) or just a full day to spend together.

Point Ruston Day Date

This day date gem seems to go unnoticed unless you’re headed to the luxurious theater (it’s my mother in law’s favorite). I recommend skipping that though and snagging a bicycle built for two! Ride down the beautifully paved trail next to the waterfront, before heading back to Anthem Coffee for a snack. Their avocado toast is delicious! Stroll through the market and pick out something special for your honeymoon or new home, before heading to Stack 531 for a delicious burger.

Seattle’s Pike Place Market

I’m not sure what it is about Pike Place, but this Seattle day date never ceases to amaze me. Maybe it’s the nostalgia of the almost century old market, or the quaint little shops that make me feel all romantic. Head to the bookstore across the street and find a book on your honeymoon location or a bucket list destination. Head to Beechers for some mac-n-cheese, or any of the fish-n-chips places for some local clam chowder. Wind your way down Post Alley and be sure to snag a romantic selfie with the lights overhead.

Naches Trail Hike

For the day date you need, but find everywhere else too expensive and crowded, head to Naches Trail. This 4-6 mile round trip hike takes you through some of the most beautiful places in MRNP. You’ll cross the bridge to the Naches Loop and be greeted by wildlife, incredible views and some of the prettiest foliage this side of the mountains. About halfway is the perfect location for a picnic lunch. Just don’t eat too much or you’ll find it hard to hike back out.

Crabbing at Westport

This is one of our family’s favorite adventures, but it makes a great Seattle day date for couples too. Snag your favorite road trip coffee and bagels before making the two hour drive to Westport. Once you’ve arrived, drop pots off the docks and enjoy each other’s company while listening to the seals sing. When lunch rolls around, head to Bennett’s Fish Shack and be sure to eat some halibut for Emi (it’s her favorite). Full on lunch and needing a nap? Head down Jetty Haul Road to the park at Westhaven, and snag a spot on the beach to relax with the waves.

These are just a few of the many gems offered in the PNW for your day dates and within a few hours drive. They’re great ways to reconnect and remember why you chose your partner as your future spouse when wedding planning hits a rough spot. (Just because you want to spend time with them is a good excuse too!)
